The printing process is fairly simple. Students drew their image into a sheet of flat styrofoam. The lines stay the color of the paper and the flat foam becomes covered with paint. We used large foam brushes to put a thin layer of white paint on the foam printing plate. We "mowed the lawn", or rubbed the print in rows, to transfer the paint from foam to paper. Pulling the print from the foam plate is the best part because the image has appeared almost like magic! The students were also excited about printmaking resulting in several copies of an artwork- plenty to share with family and friends!
These snowmen prints were a great (late) start to a snowy day.
